Ice Cube has confirmed reports that he missed his chance to win $9 million because he would not receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
On the most recent episode of this week’s Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Ice Cube revealed that his refusal to get vaccinated forced him to turn down an acting job. “I turned down a movie because I didn’t want to get punched,” he shared, adding, “I turned down $9 million because I didn’t want to get punched. To hell with that punch and to hell with all of you for trying to make me get it. I don’t know how Hollywood feels about me right now.”
Then he clarified: “I did not turn [$9 million] down. Those motherfuckers wouldn’t give it to me because I wouldn’t get the shot. I did not reject it. They just didn’t give it to me.”

In October, Ice Cube was reported to have dropped out of the upcoming Sony sitcom Oh Hell No, in which he would have co-starred with Jack Black, after refusing a request from the producers to get vaccinated. Ice Cube and Black partnered on the project in June, and the Sony film was set to shoot this winter in Hawaii with Kitao Sakurai in the director’s seat. Since then, the film has delayed its start of production.
